Fathers day....

my dad as an infant

it's my second fathers day without my dad.
it doesn't seem any easier as each year goes by.
i just seem to find ways to put the pain aside on
all the other days of the year that aren't
his birthday, fathers day, day he died, or
any of those holidays like christmas.
the memories are mostly all positive
except for the ones from the end
but all filled with love and family.

my dad was a rock star and
it kills me i can't tell him i love him anymore,
or hear him tell me.
i miss his silly ways and funny way of
speaking english (it was his 5th language).
but all those memories make me tear up
but with a big smile.

his first communion

he was a stud and what he liked to think
quite the ladies man.

but the best thing about him was
his ability to be the best daddy ever.
he gave my sister and i the best
he had and never ever let us believe
we weren't anything but amazing, beautiful,
intelligent and independent women
who could do what ever our hearts wanted.
it was truly unconditional love.

i wish him the best fathers day where ever he is.

and to all those amazing dad's out there
happy fathers day.

inspiration....

i've been a little obsessed
with finding pictures of
inspiration of late.
maybe it's because i need
a little inspiration or maybe it's cause
i just want to look at something pretty.
i don't know, either way it's been fun
and i thought i  would share some
of them.
maybe you will find some inspiration
or just like looking at something pretty.

shop....

i finally made it into the shop to reset the space.
it's been weeks but finally i had a quiet and free
saturday that was ALL mine.
I took two car loads to the shop
and rearranged and freshened up.
the down side was i forgot my
camera so the pictures were
taken on my cell so apologize
for the quality of the images.

gifts....

my husband is a rare breed,
he is a full time music teacher.
there aren't many of them around
anymore these days.

he loves his job and loves music.
he has a gift.
not only does he teach his young students
music (by the way i would love to
take his class) but he teaches them
self respect, discipline, tolerance,
respect of others, and confidence.
a short list of what they learn in his class.

the other day he had a 3rd grade
girl in class feeling a little blue.
he asked her how things were.
she is the youngest of 5 girls
and doesn't really like
being the youngest.
now my husband is the youngest of 4
and so he knew what she was feeling.
he told her that once her big sisters
were all in high school and college
she would be the last one home
which would mean she wouldn't
have to share anything any more.
this made her smile and
she wondered off to practice her
recorder outside in the sunny field.

at the end of class she came up and told
my husband she had a gift for him.
she handed him this....

she told him
"thank you!"

gave him a smile and skipped out
of the room off to her next class.

he might be my music man
but he is their "Mr. Schuester".

chickens....

my mom is on vacation in california
visiting my sister....
which means we are chicken sitting.
that's right, chicken sitting.
she just got 3 of the cutest chicks
and they just aren't big enough to
be on their own in their chicken taj.
so, they are visiting us for the week.

my nephew named them:
black pot, big ball and little ball.
i think that's how it goes.
either way aren't they sweet.

our dogs are quite enamored with them.
we realized it might be more than
an interest when Diesel stared drooling.
maybe lunch is what he had in mind. :-)

wish us luck, we have never taken
care of chickens before.
i'm feeling very responsible.
i would hate for anything to happen
to my mom's girls.

summer....

i love summer for so many reasons.
this weekend it felt like summer for the
first time since last summer.
when the sun comes out something
else comes out....peoples junk.

yesterday my mom and i went out
with the goal of following every garage
sale sign we saw and just see
where they took us.
we had so much fun
and found so much great stuff.

this is just a smattering of what we found.
there are so many other little finds
we brought home.
i heart garage sales.
you never know what you will
find and there is always
another one around the corner
if  the last one was a dud.
plus as my mom says
i have mastered the art of
garage sale parking.

let's hear it for summer and
all its wonderful junque.

milk....

at the recent Vintage Gathering show
my friend lisa  bought a white milk can
from us.
well she took it home and did a little cleaning
up in her yard and found the perfect home for it.

here is how it all turned out:

don't you just love it?

it's nice to see what people ended up doing
with the treasures they buy from you.

thanks lisa for the support and sharing
the picture.
