In Mass....

I was in Santa Monica all last week for work
and a little bit of R&R.
Trust me the R&R was well deserved.
But that's boring.

The real reason for this post
is this amazing store we found on Abbot Kinney in Venice.
It was absolutely spectacular.
Pure candy for the eyes.

They have merchandising in mass down pat.
This place showed almost everything in multiples.
Multiple cake plates, pitchers, chandeliers,
linens, suitcases, tins and the list goes on.
It was beautiful.

I admit a little scary too since there really wasn't
much space to walk. You had to carry your purse
down at your side in extreme fear you would
send a pile of something crashing to the ground.
They had both vintage and reproduction.

I wish I could tell you their name.
It might be Bob's Hardware or that could have been
a sign out front for sale, who knows.
We couldn't find a business card either.
If you happen to know would you tell us.
Please.

Enough of me yammering
here are the pics.

Front of the store

Clear glass cake plates

Pink on the table, white in the wall

Green and turquoise gone wild

Lace

Blue stripes

Take a seat

Tins galore

It was a breathtaking store and insperational
to boot.

Pink....

Pink....
i seem to be infatuated with the color pink...
it might be because valentines is coming...
or the fact i need a little color in my life,
it has been awfully grey out side.
anyways i went looking for images that are just
pretty in pink....
and  found a few that spoke to my need for pink.

Laduree....

I have no idea why I thought of Laduree tonight
but for some reason it popped into my head.
Maybe it was the need for warmth and sweet,
maybe it's been the heavy doses of testosterone at work,
or maybe it's the thoughts of valentines approaching
and the need for pink and girly.

Either way I had Laduree on the top of mind.

If you have never heard of it or been there
it is pure confection not only for the tongue but for the eye.
It is this absolutely divine tea house in Paris.
They have them in several large cities and airports,
shoot you  can have them deliver to your private Lear jet
if in the UK ,
but they originated in Paris in 1862.

They are famous for their macaroons.
They are these beautiful and colorful
pops of deliciousness that
you can't find anywhere else.
The chose of flavors alone will make you swoon.
lavender, chocolate, espresso, caramel....

There packaging is pure girly.
Who wouldn't want a box that looked like this....

And let's not forget their interiors....
Pure delight....

Even there windows are like jewel boxes...

Hollywood has a bit of a love affair with them as well....

I wax on about a simple macaroon, it's place of pleasure
and a simple cup of tea.

Thank you for letting me indulge....

Friends....

Friends...
One of the most important things in life.

Last night Meeghn and I got together for some wine
and catching up.
It was meant to be a business meeting which we did get to
but we also gave our selves time to catch up,
kvetch, laugh and tell stories.

It was at the end of a very long day that did not feel overly
productive or successful.
To sit down with a good friend
and share ideas, make a plan and commit
to being true to ourselves through building
Bee & Mason
it was what a girl needed.

Thank you Meeghn!

Pewter....

I have had a fetish of sorts or maybe it's more like an obsession lately for
pewter.

It's the poor man's silver.
I love the patina and the warmth the metal exudes.
You feel like you can actually use it and you
never have to polish it (not that I ever polish my silver).

It is an alloy of mostly tin with a little copper (no hints of this in it's beautiful
cloudy, grey color), antimony and sometimes lead.

If it's an antique piece it is best to find out if it has lead,
if you are unsure it's recommended you don't use it for food or beverages.
Don't fret there are other uses.

It's easy to care for, keep it dusted and if it does get dirty wash it in warm
water with mild soap. Simple.

Pages....

There wasn't much I asked for from Santa this year
but there was one little present I would be more than happy
to have as the only gift under the tree this year.
I must have been a very good girl in 2010 because
my Santa gave me the one gift I really, really wanted.

A Sketchbook....
I haven't had one of these in a long time.
I use to keep one of sketches of my designs and clippings of
pictures of fashion that inspired me or I found to just be beautiful.
I felt like I needed to find my inspiration again and this
is how I find it easiest to organize or not organize those
ideas and inspirations.

I love to cut out pictures from magazines or print my own pictures I've taken.
I tape them in and write little notes about the images.
What is it I like about the photo...
What inspires me...
Ideas I might have...
Projects that could bloom...

I guess you can say the pages become my mood boards,
my story line...
I'm not the best drawer by far. In fact I wouldn't even agree that I can
draw but I feel safe with these pages to make little sketches of my
thoughts and ideas.

To see a book filled with just white, plane pages
of nothing might seem overwhelming even frightening
but for me it is a welcome friend.
...a place I can tell my little secrets
no judgment is passed,
there is no other point of view,
no right or wrong...

Just my thoughts...
nothing more nothing less.

Thank you Santa!
