Lauretta Jean's...

I like food. I don't mean I like food I mean
I LIKE food. It's a passion of mine and why
I workout. Really it's the only reason I drag
my sorry ass to the gym or out for a run.
It's all so I can eat.
One of Mr. O's and my new resolutions for 2013
is to try a new restaurant every other week. He gets
to pick one a month and I get to pick one a month
and the only rule is it has to be some where we haven't
been.
Since we are both on holiday we started early. Why not?
Test out the viability of the resolution (actually it's just another
excuse to eat, like we need one).
I read a little blip in a review of best foods of 2012 in Portland
about a little bakery/cafe that has the best biscuits in Portland.
Now that is an honor not easily come by here. You see for some
reason us Portlanders secretly want to be southerners or at least
eat like them. You can find a biscuit about every other block here.
No joke!
So, we set out to see if it was true and can I tell you I think it just
might be. They are the butteriest biscuits that flake and crumble
just right with a creamy flavor and enough doughy center to hold
butter and jam or in Mr. O's case sausage gravy.
And to top it all off the place was full of vintage finds. Hello,
you can't ask for better then that. Biscuits and vintage.
Enough to make this girls heart go pitter patter just a bit.

See for your self or better yet if you are in Portland stop
by and try it in person. I promise you won't regret it.

Perfect biscuits, wonderful ambiance, divine vintage touches and friendly service.

A perfect way to spend the morning.

F

Christmas morning...

Christmas has got to be one of our favorite days of the year.
I can actually say it is my husbands favorite day of the year.
He starts planning for the next year the day after.
We don't have two legged kids, we have four legged.
So, we spoil ourselves and our sweet boys.

For years I worked in Retail and really didn't appreciate
Christmas as I lived the hell of retail for two months.
Now that I have been in the civilian world for the last 6 years
I go all out knowing it is my husbands favorite day of the year.

I thought I would share a little bit of our Christmas morning.

Stockings for the boys!

The morning wouldn't be quite right without a big fire!

My Mr. O's fabulous wrapping skills!

Laddy digging into his stocking.

 Diesel in his stocking

My two favorite presents, both vintage of course!

We start the day with coffee, then after working up a hunger we
make eggnog panettone french toast and bacon for breakfast
then once all done and surrounded by gifts
we have lunch.
There are no calories on Christmas day.

I hope your Christmas was a wonderful day filled with much joy and love.
Till next year!

Christmas Trees...

I love Christmas trees, I really do.
May favorite memories of Christmas as
a child was going out to the woods or the
Christmas tree farm and cutting down the
most perfect tree.
The smells, the mud, rain and all those needles
after dragging it in. Then the fun began, decorating.
Now that I am an adult I tend to be a little more open
to different kinds of trees. I admit though I am still
partial to a real tree.
Here are a few options I found this year including a
so so picture of our trees this year.

They make me want to sing,
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas tree...

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the festivities begin.
I can't wait.
