Junking dogs...

I love this time of year for so many reasons.
One of my favorite is the appearance of free piles on
sidewalks all over town.
I have found some of my best free junk pieces
either out running in the early morning or
out walking my dogs.
Now my dogs seem to have a nose for good junk.
Really, they do.

Now that Laddy is gone I wasn't sure if Diesel
could do it on his own. They worked best as a team.
But my sweet ol' boy still has it in him, even solo.

Junk sniffing dog extraordinaire,  Diesel..

Pink cabinet doors and a drawer...

I'm thinking pink framed chalk boards and maybe a small cabinet
out of reclaimed wood and these as doors.
And well the drawer, you can always find a good use for a drawer
especially one in pink.

So, how did he do?
I'm pretty proud of my boy.

Let's hear it for Spring and Summer!

if i had a secret room...

I often fantasize about decorating. Surprise, surprise, I know
but really I probably redecorate potential homes in my head
at least once a day, minimum.
Most of these are fantasies and I am ok with that. Well, kind of.
Often though I dream about what it would be like to have a secret
room that was all mine and I could do what ever I wanted. It wouldn't
have a function other then being mine, all mine.
This room changes depending on my mood or state of mind.
Today, it's quite girly and feminine...Tulle, lace, velvet, satin ribbons
and feathers.

a little visual to share the decadent meringue of a room fluttering in my head
today...

the loo...

there are so many rooms in a house
and we talk about them all the time
except for the bathroom; this one we
tend not to want to address.
so often people do "up" their
bathrooms in white.  don't get me
wrong i like a white loo, there is something
so fresh about a white loo but it's usually
one of the smallest rooms in the house
which means you can try anything and
if you don't like it it won't take much
to change it.
i have a pink tub in my bathroom with white
tile so what wall there was got a coat of
pink paint. it's fun and whimsical and
my mr. "O" doesn't mind. he likes the
fun of the pink.

here are a few to inspire your loo:

so try something fun or different
then you normally would and
see what happens.

Plucky finds....

we had so much fun this weekend...

it started with an estate sale on friday,
this house was full, one of those where you
wonder how some could have lived in it
because there was so much!
i bought so much that i had to go back
the next day to pick up the rest of it.

then friday night we hit up the
plucky maidens vintage market
and i have to tell you those girls
know how to pull out all the vintage stops.
we had so much fun saying hi and catching up...
and of course we couldn't help but pick up a few...
well, maybe more then a few.

these pack into each other and have never been used.

foldable sewing table with the tape measure painted on top.
the picture doesn't do the patina on this beauty justice.

the sweetest pink moonbeam clock and a box of chocolates sans chocolates

perfect for any desk or bedside table

red and chippy...perfect for a cocktail cart

a medical cabinet would make the perfect cabinet
for any home

can't you see this at a farm table?
tectronix 50's office chair

pretty in pink...

these are just a few of the pieces we found
this weekend.
we had so much fun we bought more on saturday
and now can't wait until the next
plucky maidens vintage market.

be sure to frequently check our space at
Splendid at Stars...
for these and other vintage finds...

what is my style....

yesterday my mom and i added some new items
to our space at Stars and as i was trying to
summon the inspiration goddess i struggled
with conjuring her up.

i got everything placed stepped back
to look at the space and realized
it wasn't the fault of my inspiration goddess
but we were all over the style board with our offerings.

if any of you know me this drives me crazy!
i don't know if it's an a.d.h.d. thing or what
but if things don't fit together just right
i go a little bonkers and will actually loose sleep over it.

so, here is the dilemma....
i have all these beautiful items for sale...
i need to sell them...
yet, they don't all work together.

do i just live with it until things sell
and meanwhile get in touch with my true passions
and shop for just those styles?

i look around and so many amazing dealers
have a look, they have tapped into something
that works.

what is mine?
i know what i like and what gets my juices flowing
yet they don't always live together in a store space
that is 9x10 well....if you know what i am saying.

i think it might be time to start an  inspiration board
for our little shop in shop and remember to stick
to those styles.
maybe this way i can get some sleep and feel
the guidance of my inspiration goddess more naturally.

here's what gets my juices flowing....

industrial....
bohemian chic....
feminine modern hollywood.....
primitive farmhouse....

wood....
metal....
rusty....
velvet.....
dark moody colors....
pink....

ok, see my problem?

how do i pair this down to make it work?

help?

beleaguered and dazed
