Yes, I found a chair!
It needs updated and reupholstered but what do you think?
I have some ideas on what I want to do to it and would love to hear your thoughts...so, what do you think I should do to it?

Chairs...

Who new finding the perfect chair would be so difficult...
I am on the hunt for two chairs for my living room, they can't be big overstuffed
armchairs like I currently have...they need to be more svelte and of course am looking
for vintage/antique chairs with some serious character.
Oh yeah, did I mention I don't want to pay an arm and a leg either for them. That makes it that much harder but I am determined...I know I will find them!

Here are some ideas of what I am looking for...

Velvet chairs...

Leather chairs...

Tufted but not necessarily in pink and definitely more distressed...

You start getting the picture...
A well loved, distressed, cozy, textured, leggy, vintage chair I can't live without!
If you happen to have one or know of where I can get two please let me know.
I sooooo want to find my chairs.

What's your color?

Everybody has a color or two they gravitate to,
and when we decorate our little nests we sometimes
pop them in to our rooms but more often then not we
shy away from adding color
because we aren't sure how or if it will look good even if
it is our absolute favorite color and can't imagine life
without it.

Here's what I say, throw it in! Start with some pillows
or a throw rug; pull in some small pieces that might have
some of that favorite color in it and then when you are
feeling confident and realize you can make this work
buy a piece of furniture in your favorite color; paint a wall
or two in it or find a rug popping with color.

I know, you are thinking that's easier said then done, but
really people it's not that hard, it's your favorite color just
remember baby steps if needed then go for the gusto.
You'll love it and everyday when you walk through your
little nest you will smile because it's your favorite color.

So, what's your favorite color?

tango orange...

 blues...

yellow...

pink...

lavender...

green...

Tell me, inquiring minds want to know what is your favorite color in your nest?

Plucky finds....

we had so much fun this weekend...

it started with an estate sale on friday,
this house was full, one of those where you
wonder how some could have lived in it
because there was so much!
i bought so much that i had to go back
the next day to pick up the rest of it.

then friday night we hit up the
plucky maidens vintage market
and i have to tell you those girls
know how to pull out all the vintage stops.
we had so much fun saying hi and catching up...
and of course we couldn't help but pick up a few...
well, maybe more then a few.

these pack into each other and have never been used.

foldable sewing table with the tape measure painted on top.
the picture doesn't do the patina on this beauty justice.

the sweetest pink moonbeam clock and a box of chocolates sans chocolates

perfect for any desk or bedside table

red and chippy...perfect for a cocktail cart

a medical cabinet would make the perfect cabinet
for any home

can't you see this at a farm table?
tectronix 50's office chair

pretty in pink...

these are just a few of the pieces we found
this weekend.
we had so much fun we bought more on saturday
and now can't wait until the next
plucky maidens vintage market.

be sure to frequently check our space at
Splendid at Stars...
for these and other vintage finds...

bentwood....

the Thonet Bentwood chair
is an iconoclastic cafe chair
made from 6 pieces of heat steamed
wood curved into a light weight,
comfortable, beautiful chair.

they are true classics that have
a lot of history but still feel very modern
today.

mismatched....

i am back!!!!!!!!
did you miss me?
i missed you!

last night i had a conversation with a friend
about chairs for an outside table she and her partner had just bought.
she wanted to know if they would find 10 of one style of chair.
was it doable.
i asked her "do they need to match?"
it's southern california, outside under a beautiful and large tree.
why not go casual, whimsical and fun.

she loved the idea and wanted to know what would it look like.
well, here are a few examples of what mismatched chairs can look like.

bench with sheep skin, metal stools and white wooden chairs.
love the use of different materials and textures.

mismatched antique!

 different colors!

  different sizes!

 tonal!

different yet the same in color and fabric!

all images sourced from pinterest

different woods, fabrics and styles.

i love mismatched.
i don't know about you but i like so many different styles
sometimes it's  just hard to decide on one.
so why not have a little fun and get whimsical.
throw a little caution to the wind and go for it.

happy dinning!
