Shop Local...

Today was Little Boxes Friday here in Portland
and tomorrow is national Small Business Saturday.
If you are doing your holiday gift shopping be
sure to support your local business owners.
They are the backbone to all of our communities
and they are your neighbors.
Plus you will find unique and personal gifts that
aren't found in every mall. Think how happy all
your friends and family will be.
So, check out your own neighborhood or go to one
you normally don't visit and shop local, eat local and drink local!

Happy Shopping!

vintage in new york....

sorry it's been over a week since my last visit
but i have a pretty good reason....
last week was my husband and mine 20th anniversary....
and we spent the week in NYC.

it was quite divine....
i think i gained 10lbs eating....
you would think with all the walking
i would shed a few pounds but no such luck.

i did however get to see some fantastic vintage
signs, stores and flea markets
which almost made up for the extra pounds gained.

NYC has such history and much of it is still
intact and incorporated into the modern NYC.
it's how i imagine the perfect decor for a home would be.

i love the old fonts on the vintage signs
through out the city....

these are a couple of windows from
ABC home....
i could live here plus they have one of the
best restaurants in town.

then there are the flea markets....

yes i bought a couple of things but i have to
say my pockets were not deep enough for their prices....

the vintage stores....
this one all industrial....
i believe i drooled....

it was hard to come home but we
had the best time....
here is to the next 20 years....

love and ciao,
f

junking....

i don't know where to begin....
what started as an innocent morning of junking
with my friend, Amy,
turned into an episode
of American Pickers.

it was the concrete birdbath that started
it all....
a quick u-turn through the parking lot
of a sex shop and across a large intersection,
we landed in the shangri-la of
junk!

we couldn't believe what we stumbled on...
piles and i do mean piles of junk, and good junk too!

a little frightened of what might crawl out
we treaded lightly but surprisingly
we saw none...more like thank god we didn't' see anything...
especially since Amy promised to run over me if we saw something.

our truck was already full so we needed another.
this required a few calls, texts and as usual
John came to our rescue.
this really was just an excuse to buy more.

flea market, thrift stores and shangri-la
and it made for a perfect day of junking.

Vintage Gathering....

Well, we had to say farewell to
A Vintage Gathehring
for the season
but wow, what a great season.

We  had so much fun this summer
participating in AVG.
We have met the most amazing people
not only our customers but the
other vendors we get the great honor
of sharing these experiences with.

Unfortunately the  weather was not
as cooperative as we had hoped.
The NW Doppler radar was broken,
really?
So, who knew it was going to rain ALL day
Saturday?
Friday night was a lot more cooperative
and glad I took pictures when the sun was shining.
