Kids rooms...

my nephew has been visiting us
and who new one could get so tired playing.
not complaining...
we have so much fun and i truly do love
him to the ends of the world and back.

my house looks like a kid has been around...
this got me thinking how much fun it would
be to do a kids room with great vintage finds.

here is what i am thinking...

vintage laundry baskets for laundry, toys, blankets and pillows

locker baskets for what else...storage!

vintage desk and chair and the plates would even be fun,
pick a theme for the plates and display.

these colorful library card catalog drawers would be great
for fun and whimsical storage.

now seriously, what kid big or small wouldn't want to read
under the glow of the world.

letters...
the ultimate in fun and whimsy.
find their initials or spell their name.

maps are fascinating and educational...
perfect for some wall art.

old pant hangers to display their own art.

repurposed school lockers for books, clothes and toy storage.

how much fun could you have?
get them involved and hit the flea markets
and estate sales to find their own vintage treasures
for their rooms.

now enough work...
back to playing!

Garage....

this is a first,
i am having a garage sale.
some call it a yard sale others a tag sale,
either way it's going to be good.

i have had garage sales in the past
but only of personal stuff.

but i really need to clean out some inventory
and i figured the best way to go about it
would be to have a bit of a yard sale.

 so tomorrow Saturday, August 6th
from 9-3
at
3129 NE 65th Ave
Portland, OR

Bee & Mason will be having a yard sale.

so if you are in the neighborhood
swing by and find a treasure or two.
be sure to say hi if you do.
wish me luck!
hope to see you tomorrow.

surprises....

i didn't expect a lot from junking today
since it is a holiday weekend and all.
but you know, it was pretty good.

i found this pretty in pink chair while out running.
i was only half way into my run and there was no
running home early.
let me tell you a free pretty pink chair is enough
to inspire you to run that much faster.
i can't tell you how happy i was when i went back
with my car and it was still sitting on the side of the street.
yeah, me!

i imagine this one in a studio filled with wonderful
little treasures.

 love this postal scale.
don't you?

 coffee any one?
a 1935 coffee tin.

filled with ice and grape nehi's
on a perfect summer afternoon.

a whole collection of old oil cans.
aren't they just lovely?

i found both of these behind some car engines
at a shop sale.

and on the back they have these wonderful
numbers printed.
i like the 100F!

it was a great morning and a lot of
fun to be out hunting.
i think i like holiday weekends.

remember, if you ever see anything that you
just can't live without here on the blog
please  leave a comment or send me a
email and i would be more then happy
to either send if feasible or deliver if local.

have a wonderful holiday weekend.

finds....

my nephew left yesterday afternoon
which left my day a little empty.
so, on the way home from the airport
i stopped at a few garage sales to
distract me from the fact i had to send
my nephew home after such a wonderful week.

it was late in the day and so didn't have
high expectations of finding much.
i didn't but did find a few small items
i couldn't leave behind.

not bad for a late day of garage sales.

hope you had a good weekend too.

summer....

i love summer for so many reasons.
this weekend it felt like summer for the
first time since last summer.
when the sun comes out something
else comes out....peoples junk.

yesterday my mom and i went out
with the goal of following every garage
sale sign we saw and just see
where they took us.
we had so much fun
and found so much great stuff.

this is just a smattering of what we found.
there are so many other little finds
we brought home.
i heart garage sales.
you never know what you will
find and there is always
another one around the corner
if  the last one was a dud.
plus as my mom says
i have mastered the art of
garage sale parking.

let's hear it for summer and
all its wonderful junque.
