All about the table...

My husband and I love to entertain with friends...he cooks and I set the table.
Thanksgiving table is one of my favorite to create. There are so many things you can do.
Here are a few tips to creating the perfect table to give thanks around with your friends and family.

If you are serving at the table keep your center pieces simple...
Use what you have, here they used glasses filled with herbs...you could also use bowls of Autumn fruits or vegetables. Just remember to leave room for all those platters of food.

I like to shake up the table with place cards, it keeps conversations interesting and if you have new guests it can make them feel more welcome by sitting them next to folks who will embrace them and ease the feeling of not knowing anyone.
You can use small apples, little pumpkins, pine cones, wine corks or just a simple piece of paper with their name written on it. Again, use what you have and what is seasonal.

Lighting is key for any room to create a mood...this could be using a dimmer on your overhead lights, adding candles or stringing lights...it all depends on the room and what you have available but please don't use big bright lights, know one looks good under a spotlight.

Seating...who has 12-20 chairs that all match sitting (yes, pun intended) around their house? Don't be afraid to mix it up with traditional dinning chairs, upholstered chairs and benches.

For the table settings mix and match your glass ware, plates and even flatware...it adds a bit of whimsy and interest.

Remember to have fun, use what you have and don't be afraid to mix it up...the true reason you are all getting together is to give thanks and celebrate so don't stress, it will all be fabulous!

Outdated...

This place is the perfect marriage of all things good...
Coffee, Food & Vintage

It's the Outdated Antique Cafe
hidden in the hamlet of Kingston, NY

I have to say it would be an expensive lunch or
cup of coffee...
these folks have an eye for vintage.

See for yourself...

Inspiration...

Wow, so sorry...I didn't realize how long it has been since I last blogged.
I do need to get better about that...sometimes the time just seems to slip on
by before I know it it is a new week with a new list of things to do and well
you know how it goes.
Today I wanted to let you in to my inspiration for the holidays...
I am participating in the Plucky Maidens Holiday Junk Fest on November 22 & 23
in Portland, OR and I love having a theme. I find to be helpful in planning what
my space is going to look like, gives it some focus and offers inspiration for me
and my customers.
This year it's Holidays in Montana...a little rough, a little outdoorsy, cold winter days
in front of the fireplace, and yes a wee bit of glam...snow can look like glitter after all.
It started with two beautiful taxidermy deer heads I purchased a couple of months go,
Billie and Bobbie...they have been in my studio, giving me much inspiration.

Meet them...

The following images also offered up inspiration for my holiday...
